Deviled Ham Salad

Deviled Ham Salad is one of those things that isn’t much to look at but is nonetheless absolutely delicious. It’s a mystery why it often takes a back seat to tuna salad or chicken salad, as it makes a mean sandwich and is equally great spread on a cracker or a slice of cucumber. And it only takes just a few minutes to make!

Deviled Ham is an excellent way to use up leftover ham, but it’s good enough that it’s worthy of purchasing ham just for this purpose. Depending on the texture you prefer, you can finely chop it with a knife or you can use a food processor for a finer chop.

Once it’s chopped, you mix the ham with mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and a dash of hot sauce. There are a thousand-and-one different seasoning combinations, but this one happens to be our favorite. It balances the sweetness in the ham perfectly.

It’s best served chilled and it’s the kind of sandwich filling that does best spread on a soft slice of sandwich bread – you don’t need any fancy artisan loaves here.

It’s not as well known as some of the other protein/mayo-based salads out there, but it’s high time it had its turn in the limelight. If you haven’t had it before, definitely give the tuna and chicken salad a break and try this!
