People Are Now Using Lip Fillers To Get ‘Devil Lips’ In Bizarre Beauty Trend

We have seen our fair share of trends that come and go over the years. Some of them are interesting, to say the least, and others are bizarre. You might even question if some of them are an Internet hoax, and that is likely how you will feel when you see Devil Lips. They are so unusual looking that you are likely to wonder why anybody would do that to part of their body.

Devil lips are also known as ‘octopus lips’. They are a cosmetic trend that results in waves showing up around the lips.

It seems as if this trend started in Russia but it is now spreading across Europe. Some British users are posting pictures on their Instagram feed. Of course, experts and doctors are sounding the warning that this look should not be attempted.

Experts are labeling the trend as dangerous and nonnatural. In order to create the wave pattern, you will need to use lip fillers.

“You cannot change the anatomical shape of the lips like this. You can sharpen and contour by enhancing the vermillion border, but these “devil lips” are unnatural,” said Dr Krystyna, a London-based Cosmetic Dentist, and Facial Aesthetician.

“Filler injected inappropriately could end up in blood vessels, causing blockages and leading to necrosis (death) of the tissue. The vessels are around the lips, so using filler inappropriately is what can cause this.”

Some people seem to be interested in replicating this look but others are repulsed by it. There is also another group of people who are still in denial and feel that it is nothing more than a hoax or a Photoshop manipulation.

One beauty expert and owner of Dermaspa, Nilam Holmes disagrees with the trend. She posted to Instagram and calls it the worse cosmetic procedure, going so far as to call it ridiculous.

“Please don’t be naive and follow silly trends like this. You will not be able to reverse it easily and go back to your natural lips if at all. Your lip border will be distorted and it won’t wear off evenly so you will have frilly lips for years to come,” she said.

Like all ridiculous trends, this one is eventually going to die a slow death. “There has been a shift in aesthetic style,’” Manhattan dermatologist Anetta Reszko told the New York Post.

“People no longer want to look different; they want to look like a more rested, fresher version of themselves.”
